Ana-Irina SARCANE is a reputed lawyer in the field of restructuring and insolvency. She has participated in a wide range of projects, most of them related to distressed entities: restructuring plans, bankruptcy procedures, law drafting, legal opinions, M&A, due diligence, high complexity contract drafting, litigation.
She is a member of the Bucharest Bar since 1996, a Member of the Romanian Insolvency Practitioners Association (UNPIR) – since 1999 as well as a member of the European Insolvency Practitioners Association (INSOL EUROPE) – since 1999.
More than half of Irina’s professional life has been spent in PwC – one of the largest consultancy firms in the world, thus being part of an international, complex environment, where best practices are adhered to.
Irina-Ana SARCANE has been the Team leader of the two international projects, on behalf of the Ministry of Justice, which resulted in the enactment of the present and former insolvency laws:
- Consulting Services for the ”Strengthening the Insolvency Mechanism in Romania”- World Bank/IBRD funded – 2011 – 2014. She coordinated over 30 experts for the successful completion of the project; she was a trainer for 60 trainees (judges and insolvency practitioners) and participated in the parliamentary legal committee debates.
- Project Phare RO 2002/000-586.04.17/ EuropeAid/116027/D/SV/RO: Support for the improvement and the enforcement of legislation and judicial decisions on bankruptcy – 2004 – 2006. She coordinated over 50 experts, for the successful completion of the project and trained over 500 judges and insolvency practitioners
Irina-Ana SARCANE has also contributed to seminal works on insolvency, co-authoring the Practical Treatise on Insolvency, Hamangiu Publishing House, Bucharest, 2014, also writing numerous articles on the subject matter. She is a frequent speaker at professional conferences and has contributed to shaping the Insolvency Practitioner profession in her capacity as member of the Scientific Board of INPPI (The Continuing Education Institute for Insolvency Practitioners). She is a member of the editorial board of Eurofenix, The Journal of INSOL EUROPE and a member of the editorial board of Phoenix, The Romanian Insolvency Review
She is used to working seamlessly in both Romanian and English (Irina also holds a Legal English translator certification).
